Alex Lindsay - Co Host

Alex Lindsay has been involved in computer graphics for nearly 20 years. He has extensive experience in digital production including print, real-time graphics, multimedia titles, forensic animation, television, photography and film. He spent several years on the production of Star Wars: Episode 1 (at JAK Films and then at Industrial Light and Magic). Alex has taught at the Academy of Art and at the San Francisco State Multimedia Studies Programs. He writes for 3D Magazine, 3D World, and Post and was a regular guest on TechTV, often demonstrating how to get the most out of Photoshop.

When he’s not out demonstrating his scary smart ability to do special effects, Alex can often be found making amazing portraits of his beautiful new son.

Scott Bourne is a digital media pioneer and has been involved in photography for more than three decades. He’s the author of four photo books including, 88 Secrets to Selling & Publishing Your Photography, Captivating Wildlife, with Daid Middleton, 88 Secrets to Photoshop for Photographers, and 88 Secrets to Wildlife Photography with Rod Barbee. Scott’s also authored three photography-related titles for Lynda.com.

Scott’s led workshops and seminars for, Palm Beach Photographic Center, Cooperative Communicators of America, WPPA, The Professional Photographers of America, Seattle Art Center, and Olympic Mountain School of Photography. He holds the designation Apple Certified Professional Trainer (T3) for Apple’s Aperture. He’s also previously held the designation Certified Adobe Photoshop Instructor.

Steve Simon is an award-winning photographer who graduated from Concordia University in Montreal with a degree in Communications/Journalism. He has participated as a guest lecturer and workshop leader at various photography and arts events in Canada, The United States, and Argentina. He has had solo shows in New York, Buenos Aires, Toronto and Montreal and his work has been featured three times at the Visa Pour L’Image Photography Festival in Perpignan, France. His work is in the permanent collections of The George Eastman House, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Comune Di Verona.

He has four previously published books, Heroines & Heroes: Hope, HIV and Africa, The Republicans, on the Republican Convention in New York City published by Charta. Healing Waters documenting the healing powers of a small lake in Alberta; and Empty Sky-The Pilgrimage to Ground Zero (ISBN 2-7604-0914-7), an excerpt of which was included in Time-Life’s book The American Spirit, forward by George W. Bush.

Ron Brinkmann - Contributor

Ron is an occasional supervisor in the visual effects and animation world, and the author of “The Art and Science of Digital Compositing,” which is regarded as a standard reference book in the visual effects industry.

Ron is one of the founding employees of Sony Pictures Imageworks, he was also part of the initial design and development team that produced the digital compositing application Shake (acquired by Apple in 2002).

From 2002-2007, Ron continued at Apple in his role as the Product Designer for Shake, as well as being involved with Apple’s professional photo-management software Aperture.

Mr. Brinkmann frequently speaks at seminars on the topics of visual effects, digital filmmaking and general technology, having given talks in Europe, China, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, Japan and India (and several less-interesting locations).

He is currently working with Digital Domain in their new games and animation division, serving as a special advisor to The Foundry, and working on the second edition of his compositing book. He can be reached via http://www.digitalcompositing.com.

Fred Johnson - Contributor

Frederick V. Johnson started his career in the United States Air Force as a Combat Photojournalist. He spent eight years shooting while on active duty, where he had the opportunity become exposed to many genres of photography, including portraiture, photojournalism, investigative, forensic, and sports photography.

A self-described “photo geek”, Frederick has come to terms with his lust for technology and art. While active duty Frederick attended the University of California at Santa Barbara.

As a civilian, Frederick has worked at stellar companies like Yahoo! and Apple (managing iPhoto). Currently Frederick holds the position of Senior Marketing Manager for Professional Photography at Adobe Systems, Inc. in San Jose, California.
