TWIP Apparel Design Contest

Okay folks time for some crowdsourcing. We’ve received several requests from our audience to make TWIP apparel - you know, hats, t-shirts and whatever. We plan to sell these as a fundraiser to help pay for more studio time and staff. This will translate to more content for you.
We want your help. You can use the TWIP logo here in this post as inspiration and design something you’d like us to use. We are interested in designs for hats, jackets, t-shirts, open collar shirts, bowling shirts, hoodies, whatever. Let us know what you like.
The winner will get mentioned here and receive a set of photo books.
Send your submissions to twipphoto@gmail.com no later than August 1, 2008.

Buttons or patches! I have a new buttons on my camera bag and would love to stick a TWiP on on there.

@teymur go for it - we’re looking for something with broad appeal so if you think crazy has broad appeal - yes…
@Graeme that might take a while to pull off but worth a look.

Here’s an idea for people more creative than me:
It’d be cool if the pictures from the TWiP Staff page were made into a digital-sketch like image similar to the ones from the Nitozac Portraits from here http://is.gd/Wrj
You could have Alex’s, Scott’s, Steve’s, Ron’s, Fred’s, and Aaron’s heads with the TWiP logo or something.
Just throwing out an idea. Will the person who’s design get picked receive a piece of the merchandise as a prize?
Also, will there be a site for the TWiP audience to vote for what they like the most regarding the design? Or are the hosts going to be the ones who choose it?
This is awesome, can’t wait to see the results and support TWiP!!

@Steve S we will give some swag to the winner. As for audience vote, we’ll certainly consider it, but in the end, we need to make the final decision because of the financial risks involved. Thanks.

@Scott Is there any negative with the hosts picking like the top five or something and then using a poll on the site to say something like “which submission do you like the best? 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5.”
Of course, that wouldn’t be final. You guys would ultimately choose what’s right.
Just an idea in case you guys do decide to let the audience vote.
(I have photoshop open ready to create some design if I’m able to think of something. :D)

Just had the craziest idea for all you hackers out there.
Get one of these button cameras or something similar http://is.gd/Wwn
Next, combine it with one of the TWiP shirts.
Optional step: Wire in a speaker with a recording of a camera shutter.
Finally, shoot.
Hey, you never know when it might come in handy. Especially when someone comes over and tells you to stop taking pictures.

What about a hachimaki (Japanese headband) with the twip logo and some Kanji slogans like “Wide Aperture” or “Light Chaser” or “Photography Geek”. What is Japanese for TWiP … Canon?

I would certainly support any type of TWIP merchandise. However, if I could get some American Apparel tees with an official TWIP logo, I’d order more than a handful for sure. Glad to hear about all of this.

I like the idea of TWiP members getting the opportunity to vote on several of the top design picks. The vote could be done kind of like your weekly poll. Although you might want to keep the vote tally private. The design with the highest number of votes would obviously be a good measurement of its Mass Appeal.

Maybe this is hard, but can you make these available in the UK? If not, I’ll have to pull some favours with colleges in the US…
