I always shoot RAW |
The results are in. Thanks to everyone who voted. The vast majority of you shoot in RAW mode at least some of the time. Only about one in five are pure JPEG shooters.
Our next poll is up.
How much money do you plan to spend on photography gear in the next six months?
And don’t worry - it’s an anonymous poll - your spouse will never know. Think about this carefully before you answer. We’re trying to get an accurate picture of what people really spend on gear.
As usual, one answer per IP. Poll ends in two weeks.
Thanks.

Just discovered your podcast, I down load them and listen while I run on the Beach in Jacksonville Florida. They are great.

I never plan on buying more photo gear at this point. It usually presents itself with a good deal.

You may wish to add “In US$”, just to remind people.
I also wonder about cost of items in other countries too. In NZ, photographic gear can retail for nearly twice as much as the same found overseas. For example, the EF 70-200F4L is somewhere around NZ$1600 (US$1200) - I believe it’s nearer to US$600 in the states. I managed to pick mine up at the ‘bargain’ price of NZ$1300 (US$1000).

Sorry Mrkgoo we don’t wish to add anything. We’re clearly a USA-based show. We don’t think it’s necessary to add USD. Nor do we plan on translating the blog and/or podcast into dozens of different languages. There are plenty of free currency calculators online if you need help making the conversion.
Thanks.

I Cant remember if your podcast was the one wishing for the ability to export from lightroom to flickr or not, but there is a plugin that I found here:

I wonder if folks consider software as “gear” these days? Clearly some of the software tools that are in use are as integral to the process as the hardware!
If I were to take the plunge into the DSLR market, then I’d be looking at $500-$750 on equipment but another $200-$400 on software, probably.
