Adobe and Apple Software Update News - TWIP

Posted by Scott under: News

Apple has updated Aperture to 2.1.2. Some sites are reporting that the new version adds some RAW support. Apple says the Aperture 2.1.2 update improves the printing quality of books ordered through the Aperture printing service.

The update is recommended for all customers using Aperture 2. You can read all the details and get the update at Apple.com.

Adobe has updated ACR to version 5.1 Newly supported cameras include:

Canon EOS 1000D (Digital Rebel XS/EOS Kiss F)

Canon EOS 50D

Fuji FinePix IS Pro

Kodak EasyShare Kodak Z1015 IS

Leaf AFi II 6

Leaf AFi II 7

Leaf Aptus II 6

Leaf Aptus II 7

Nikon D700

Nikon D90

Nikon Coolpix P6000

Olympus SP-565 UZ

Pentax K2000 (K-m)

Sigma DP1

Sony A900

NOTE for Aperture users. Since Aperture can now import any DNG file, this update does provide access to the aforementioned cameras in Aperture as well as long as you have access to ACR to do the DNG conversion.

You can get the ACR update at http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/.

Lightroom has also been updated to version 2.1 and includes improvements to Photoshop integration, Web module stability for Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit operating systems, performance with 64-bit Mac OS X 10.5 Macintosh computers, and Keyword migration from Lightroom.

Question about Aperture and DNG: Does Aperture store the metadata and correction information inside the DNG or inside the Aperture database?

Hi, Twip
I just installed the update, but Aperture still doesn’t support the Nikon D90. Am I doing something wrong or, did Apple forget to include Raw support for the D90.

Thank you, Love you show

Sometimes Apple takes two or three months to release a new raw converter update, depending on how long a camera has been out since the last update.

Does it support that wonky Windows RAW format on the P6000? Wonder if it supports it in the Mac implementation.

You can download Adobe’s free DNG converter at http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/index.html. This will let you convert any ACR supported RAW format to DNG, which can read in Aperture.
