TWIP PODCAST/TWIPPHOTO.COM Stats & Update

Posted by Scott under: Site Info

Hey everybody - I just wanted to write a note about the status of the show and the blog. We’re rising in popularity over at Technorati. We’re ranked in the Technorati Top 10K - currently holding at 5,288. Not bad considering they’re tracking millions of blogs.

We don’t do ANY SEO so any notice we get by ranking systems is purely organic. We don’t do as well in Alexa since it’s Windows biased and we don’t use their toolbar.

We’ve made more than 425 blog posts, generating about 7000 real comments.

Our combined Flickr group is about 10,000 photographers in both the general and critique forums.

We’ve been online since January 19, 2008. In just nine months, we’ve served more than 10 million page views.

Our podcast (This Week in Photography) has never been out of the iTunes top 100 and currently, we sit at 35. Once in a while we break the top 25 - but this is tough to do since iTunes only measures NEW subscribers - and many of our audience don’t subscribe to us via iTunes.

By the end of the year, we’ll have served millions of podcast downloads through Cachefly and Vimeo.

We’ve given away more than $10,000 worth of prizes in our various contests and answered tens of thousands of e-mails and questions relating to our show and photography.

We’re fortunate enough to have had sponsors for the blog and podcast since our fifth week of operation. Thanks to Lensbaby, Audible, and Drobo,

In three months - just after MacWorld - we’ll support the one-year anniversary of the blog with a big contest and some new features. So stay tuned and please help spread the word if you appreciate the hard work we’re committed to doing on your behalf.

Hey everybody :)
Thanks for an amazing podcast guys. I was a point-and-shoot novice when I listened to episode 1. Since then you’ve inspired me to go DSLR (Canon), use Aperture2 and join Flickr. I got a 50mm 1.8 lens and absolutely love it. None of this would have happened without your discussions and advice! Some of my photos are actually pretty good too. If anyone wants to check them out my Flickr ID is paulmonkeypaul
Keep up the great work. I recommend you to everyone who uses a camera! My only worry for next year is that you have already got me salivating over a 5D Mk II.

All the best
Paul

I have listened since the start and this is an awesome but expensive podcast. As of this week I have purchased a Canon Xsi and a few lenses including Alex’s famed 50mm, a new aluminum Macbook plus other toys. Keep up the good podcast but please stop draining my pocketbook as a college student can only afford so much.

Thanks Guys,
Chris

Thank you one and all. I’ve enjoyed virtually every episode and have told a dozen people abut the site and the podcast although I’m not sure how many people listen as none of them have mentioned anything from the shows back to me.

However It has driven my dad to get back into photography and he has just bought a 450d (Rebel XSI in the US) along with 3 lenses and a whole bag full of accessories. I’ll try and get him to listen to the show as I’m sure it would be good for him and he would enjoy. Hopefully he does listen to me on this one as I told him to get a Nikon like me but he got a Canon.

He’ll be visit the US at the end of the month and he’s bringing all his gear as he wants to get out and get some of the gorgeous fall colours we get at this time of the year.

Thanks again.
