@Allen, I did the firmware update on my D200 and it went fine (for both banks).

I updated my Nikon D80. Things still work.

The Nikon update does not seem to work on MACs. For System requirements it states:
5MB or more free hard-disk space. 32MB or more free RAM. Built-in USB port.
Microsoft Windows Vista (all editions, 32 bit version)
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
Microsoft Windows Me
Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition (SE)

The Canon update is for the wireless transmitter to make it work with the forthcoming 50D. Since it’s not even available yet, I’d wait until you needed it before downloading and installing it. Why install for something you can’t even use yet?

Thanks for posting this. I never would have known there was firmware update for my D80.

I just got a D80 and now experience trouble with photo transfer to my PC — photos transfer much darker than shot and RAW doesn’t show at all. I’m running Windows XP Home, 2002, Svc Pk 3. I’ve been looking for anyone referencing this issue and can’t find anything. Got any clues about what my issue really is and where to look for help?
