Thanks, Scott!

Finalizing which one to send over the next couple of days. Just got the prints back…wanted to see them printed professionally before I made the final decision. ;)

Thanks Scott for finally pushing me to submit a photo.

As usual I am always impressed with the photos you post on TWIPPHOTO.COM as well as what I have found on your other sites. I am especially curious as to the actual exif details of this particular image, specifically the aperture and focal length used. It appears that most of the head is in focus which in my experience is usually not possible with larger f stops. A future article about the relationship to depth of field, focal length and aperture might be quite knowledgeable to those of us who have not experienced super telephotos.

So when’s the Lightroom Nature/Wildlife competition?
So is it safe to assume your Bison shot is from Yellowstone?
Gave up my Rut season trip this Sept./Oct. for a Winter workshop there in February!!!
(ok, so I have surgery scheduled for Oct…)
None-the-less… would like to see a similar contest for those of us Lightroom Faithful!
Tried Aperture in the early days… likes Lightroom better, got hooked… the rest is history!
Love your Bison shot by the way… :)

@merlyn9 - You’ll have to contact Adobe to see when they plan something like this. The Bison is Yellowstone.

@Mark this shot was made with a Canon 400 mm F/5.6 lens shot wide open. The trick to soft backgrounds is to focus on the subject’s eye and let everything else go. A narrow angle of view provided by the telephoto lens helps isolate the subject. I’ll try to write something more detailed in the form of an article when I get time.

Scott - sounds like an awesome contest. It would be great if you could partner with Steve Simon and do a similar contest in Canada. In Calgary - only 1 hour from Banff - there are some awesome opportunities to capture the Canadian parks….

Cheers !

@Scott. Wow. A lens most of us non-pros can afford. I was expecting at least a 500/600 with maybe even an extender added. It would be quite educational to hear more about the technique used to get these results. Thanks.
